APPGEHVI AGM – 2.2.12

On Tuesday 2nd December, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Eye Health and Vision Impairment (APPGEHVI) met for their Annual General Meeting (AGM).

We are delighted to confirm that the group has been formally reconstituted for the year ahead, with the following parliamentarians in attendance.

Under the external Chair of Sir Alec Shelbrooke, the AGM re-elected Marsha De Cordova MP as Chair of the group. Members also re-elected the following officers: Shockat Adam MP, Florence Eshalomi MP, and Lord Shinkwin.

The meeting covered the required formal business, including review and approval of the income and expenditure statement, confirmation of the group’s due diligence statement, and discussion of the annual report detailing activity over the past year and looking forward to the year ahead.

We extend our sincere thanks to all Members who attended. The group looks forward to continuing its work over the coming year to champion eye health and improve the lives of people living with vision impairment.

Minutes of recent meetings

22nd February 2023

The APPG session looked into employment and the Access to Work scheme. Panelists and attendees discussed the advantages of the Access to Work scheme when it was deployed efficiently and highlighted the impact of delayed assessments and implementation had on people with sight loss.

26th April 2023

The APPG session discussed the eye care workforce and explored current challenges, opportunities and recommendations for the eye care workforce needed now, and in the future.
