Changing Attitudes, Changing Lives Report: One year on

Hosted by Marsha De Cordova MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Eye Health and Visual Impairment, this special parliamentary reception will bring together MPs, sector leaders, and people with lived experience to reflect on progress in supporting people with visual impairments to enter, thrive, and remain in employment.

Marking one year since the launch of the APPG’s Changing Attitudes, Changing Lives report, the event will explore the barriers that people with visual impairments continue to face in finding and sustaining work, highlight progress made, and discuss next steps for creating more inclusive workplaces.

This open session will provide an opportunity for lively discussion, engagement, and collaboration over refreshments.

22nd February 2023

The APPG session looked into employment and the Access to Work scheme. Panelists and attendees discussed the advantages of the Access to Work scheme when it was deployed efficiently and highlighted the impact of delayed assessments and implementation had on people with sight loss.

26th April 2023

The APPG session discussed the eye care workforce and explored current challenges, opportunities and recommendations for the eye care workforce needed now, and in the future.
